Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), California
NAMI is dedicated to the eradication of mental illnesses
and to the improvement of the quality of life of all whose lives are
affected by these diseases. Founded in 1979 as the National Alliance
for the Mentally Ill, NAMI today works to achieve equitable services
and treatment for more than 15 million Americans living with severe
mental illnesses and their families. Hundreds of thousands of volunteers
participate in more than one thousand local affiliates and fifty state
organizations to provide education and support, combat stigma, support
increased funding for research, and advocate for adequate health insurance,
housing, rehabilitation, and jobs for people with mental illnesses and
their families.

government's principal biomedical and behavioral research agency. NIH

LINE of San Diego County, which has provided the region with phone,
print, and then internet-based health and human service information
and referral for more than thirty years. The launch of 2-1-1 service

Diego is to optimize the effectiveness of this community's resources
by sustaining a web of connections to meet needs and contribute to positive
social change.
